In accordance with the Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and the Children First Act 2015, school staff that work with minors in a significant capacity due to their role within an organisation must complete the level one training programme.

MEI members can participate in Children First Child Protection training days delivered by Barnardos. There are two levels of training; Level 1 for all staff dealing with minors and Level 2, which is required for Designated Liason Persons (DLP).

You must complete the Level 1 course before participating in the Level 2 DLP training. Persons that do not intend to progress to Level 2 DLP training with Barnardos could alternatively opt for the free training programme through TUSLA.

Tusla: Free online Children First E-Learning Programme

The programme is based on Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children and the Children First Act 2015.

This online resource is free of charge. At the end of the online session, applicants can print off the certification of completion. This e-learning tool covers all staff working with minors in a work setting.

Registration for Barnardos Children First Child Protection Training
